National Conference on Graduate Employment and Entrepreneurship

The National Conference on Graduate Employment and Entrepreneurship took place at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) in Ho Chi Minh City on October 30^th and 31^st, 2019, with the financial support of sponsors Vinacacao Vietnam, Vietnam Consulting Group and Saigon Asset, as well as the European Commission through the Erasmus+ project V2WORK.

The National Conference succeeded in stimulating dialogue and debate at the national level with regards to the current environments of employment and entrepreneurship in Vietnam for students and graduates. The main objectives of the conference were fulfilled and the participants satisfied with the dynamic activities of the two-day event. Vigorous debates and idea exchanges will greatly contribute to drafting policy recommendations.

The Conference has proved to be an effective communication channel where employers of various backgrounds shared their needs and requirements. These insights in turn helps the Career Centre staff and HEI managers to successfully modernize their careers services, as well as a gain in knowledge in terms of identifying the market needs. The links which formed during the two-day conference will contribute to narrowing the gaps between the labor market and the HEI training programs. The success of the Conference as well as the number of external participants, underlined the attractiveness and the necessity of the project.

The National Conference was also host to the V2WORK Enterprising Ideas Competition – Be Green!, a national enterprising ideas competition which gathered in Ho Chi Minh City competitors and their supporters from 11 Vietnamese universities. Their creative ideas were checked and evaluated by a skilled board of judges, who themselves are veteran entrepreneurs or successful businesspersons, and they had an opportunity to interact with the general public through a poster session, to exchanges views on their business ideas. Three awards were granted, the Grand Jury Award and Runner-up, selected by the Jury, and the People’s Choice Award, selected by the conference participants.

Previous to the event, the V2WORK partners had a coordination meeting to review the project’s progress, and to finalise details for the National Conference and Competition, to ensure all partners had a clear understanding of their role during the event.
